Care

Keeping flowers for a week

Six simple rules. Nothing complicated — only what really works.

  1. 1

    Trim the stems

With a sharp knife, at an angle, by 2–3 cm. Straight into water. Repeat every two or three days.

  2. 2

Strip the leaves below the water

Leaves rot in water and spoil it. The stem below the water line should be clean.

  3. 3

    Change the water

Every two days, cool water. Rinse the vase. Add the flower food from the box to the first water.

  4. 4

    Away from sun and fruit

Direct sun and radiators dry the flowers out, and ripe fruit gives off ethylene — the flowers fade faster.

  5. 5

    Cool at night

If you can, move the vase somewhere cooler for the night. Flowers like 15–18 °C.

  6. 6

    Take out what has faded

One wilted flower speeds up the rest. Remove it and the others stand longer.
